I’m just tryin’ to watch my children grow
I’m just tryin’ to let my ink pen flow
I’m just tryin’ to stay safe fa show

I’m just tryin’ to reap what I sow
I’m just tryin’ to make this skin glow
I’m just tryin’ to moisturize my fro

At this point in my life
I’m just tryin’ to save and not borrow
I’m just tryin’ to not get stuck in sorrow
I’m just tryin’ to let all negativity go

At this point in my life
I’m just tryin’ to study war no mo
I’m just tryin’ to get watched like that little sparrow
I’m just tryin’ to love and hope, ya know
