Montongo Roads, a poetry chapbook, is my newest book. The poetry reflects my rural Arkansas culture, 2020, and hope.
My Grandma Sarah often prayed, “Lord, help me keep my mind.” She knew something about mental health. I find myself praying the same prayer as my grandmother, and fishing, and saying no, and painting, and exercising, and loving myself, and loving you to help me “keep my mind”.
Writing Montongo Roads is another way I’ve “kept my mind” during COVID-19. Each poem in this chapbook moves with the rhythm of my spirit and dances with the beating of my heart. I am gentle but bold as I embrace my experiences and acknowledges love and empathy as the greatest forces for human connectedness and resiliency in my poems.
Montongo Roads is scheduled for release in November 2020. Andrea’s first book, Everyday Prayers for Servant Leaders, is currently available for purchase.
